Unique meals in South Australia
Adelaide has some weird meals and famous foods that you’ll need to try. If you’re wondering what can you only buy in South Australia then you’ve come to the right list. With Crazy Adelaide Eats and strange dinner options I had to put together the most unique meals in South Australia.
Quirky Restaurant in Adelaide
At Grass Chicken in Adelaide you can find a rice burger! How it stays in-tact is something you’ll have to see for yourself. It’s a unique meal so definetely worth the Friday evening outing instead of eating the same local takeway again (yes I’m guilty of this too!)
Kangaroo Tartare
Two words that don’t belong together but do belong in my mouth. At Bistro Dom you can try this French-style of cooking with Australian ingredients. Be sure to check if it’s still on their menu as it frequently changes as they’re always innovating with food and creating amazing new experiences!
Road kill sandwich in Cooper Peedy
Travelling through Cooper Pedy South Australia and looking for a restaurant driven by taste? Well at Roadkill Steakhouse you can get yourself a Roadkill sandwich made from, yep, South Australian roadkill. Might not sound delicious but it’s pretty humane as they use meat that would go to waste!
Prairie Hotel’s Emu, Camel and Roadkill
The Feral Antipasto has kangaroo pastrami, camel mettwurst, housemade emu pate and goats cheese. Parachilna’s Feral Mixed Grill is an unforgettable meal with kangaroo, emu, camel and goat products that you probably won’t find on most Sunday roasts.
Kangaroo schnitty, yep Kangaroo schnitzel
Once again at the Prairie Hotel you can find another unique South Australian meal being the ‘Roo schnitty’. South Australia’s are pratically famous for their love of schnitty at the pub so why not combine it with something even more Australian; the Kangaroo. Hop into the local outback pub and give this famous Parachilna meal a try.
Oyster Farm Tours in Coffin Bay South Australia
I did the Oyster Farm Tour experience in Coffin Bay last year with my dad and it was such a good time! The tour takes you out to sit in the water in a oyster-collecting uniform and you sit in this Oyster Farm shucking fresh oysters and drinking delicious South Australian wine. This place went world-known after online blogs started promoting it so be sure to make a reservation before hand!
Catch your own meal in Eyre Peninsula Charters
EP Cruises in Eyre Peninsula offers the opportunity to catch your own dinner with the ‘Ocean to Plate Taster Experience’. This awesome interactive experience takes you to the waters of South Australia to catch crabs, snook, razer fish, oysters and more! You can also stand up paddle board, snorkel and relax on the great waters of Eyre Peninsula.
Pea Soup Pie Floater in Adelaide
Yes the famous Adelaide Pie Floater, that is mushy pea soup with a flaky beef pie floating on top with tomato sauce is as Adelaide as it gets. You can find “one of the best pie floaters in South Australia” in West Oak Hotel, Adelaide. Get yourself a beer and watch the footy as tonight you’ll feel as Adelaidian as you ever will.
